About Poolside
The company was founded more than 16 years ago and specialises in promoting a small collection of quality homes, with private swimming pools, mostly for summer holiday occupation in what is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions of France. A few of our properties offer all year round rentals for those who prefer out-of-season holidays, or even long term rentals from 3-6 months. Please apply for details and prices.
Over the years we have steadily built up a sound repeat-customer base with many clients returning year after year, either to their own favourite property or to a different one for a journey of discovery. We cover a wide area of the Dordogne and Lot departments, from the delightful wine-growing region of Bergerac down to Cahors situated on the very pretty and interesting Lot river.
Many of our properties are either principal or second “homes” with personalised furnishings and each one offers its own special character and ambiance. Our owners are both English and French and all have appointed cleaners/gardners and caretakers.
We provide a detailed house-book for each property which gives a wealth of information regarding the facilities in the house together with names of local doctors, emergency services, dentists, sites of interest, recommended restaurants, etc. to help you make the most of your holiday.
If you are in any doubt at all about dealing with Poolside Farmhouses and Cottages, we would be happy to provide references.
About Perigord
Le Perigord Noir is a land of splendidly varied limestone hills dotted with fortified towns and fairytale castles.
Dense walnut and chestnut woodland provide an attractive background to the spectacular routes of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers as they meander through rocky cliffs and escarpments. Hills tumble down to rich valleys and sparkling streams that cut through patchwork fields of vines, tobacco, sunflower and maize dotted with ancient villages and Perigordine farmhouses.
Le Perigord is a gastronomic paradise and is internationally famous for its Foie Gras, cepes, confit de canard, cassoulet and the "black diamond" of cooking, the fragrant and delicious black truffle to which people have attributed aphrodisiacal qualities.
