Summary:
In a tiny hamlet of quiet farms and deep in the gentle, French countryside lies an old, perfectly converted Quercy barn, La Gallerie.

Built in 1881, it has now been developed by the owners and become a superb cottage, a haven of peace and tranquillity, with perfectly appointed rooms, open plan but with definite designated areas, beautifully furnished, well equipped and with fantastic views over the countryside beyond.

This property is ideal for lovers of art, photography, sketching and drawing.  The owner is a talented artist herself and, although she does not give lessons, she will be able to tell you where to find the very best views and wonderful scenery far away from the main tourist attractions and which you may not be able to find yourselves.

The owners live in their own house across the courtyard at the back of the barn but you would be quite private, particularly with your own separate entrance to the barn. However, they would be able to give you lots of information about this lovely region which you may not be able to find on your own. They are there if you need them, not if you don’t. They do have three delightful, small, well behaved dogs which you may see from time to time but would not intrude.

A short drive to the village of Payrac 4.7kms away where you will find a boulangerie for your morning croissants, grocers for general shopping, Post Office (mornings only). The larger medieval market towns of Souillac and Gourdon are within 15 mins drive where there are supermarkets, bars, boutiques, chocolatieres, pavement cafes to watch the world go by, and lively farmers markets.

The property is situated in 2 acres of mature garden full of flowers and shrubs and, although in the countryside, all the attractions of this wonderful region of France are within easy driving distance. This is an area full of glorious views, wild flowers, birds and wild life in abundance. Visit the underground caves with prehistoric paintings, fairytale chateaux, amazing architecture, lakes, the beautiful River Dordogne and the prettiest medieval villages abound in the region, many of them with lively, bustly market days full of the taste of the region and bonhommie.

Charming, beautifully converted barn for a self-catering holiday near St Medard, Lot 46150 SW France
Sleeps 4-6 Guests
Children welcome, No pets Vacation / Holiday rental, Heated covered pool, Enclosed pool, TV Satellite, Internet connection

Summary:
On the edge of a very pretty hamlet, St Medard, deep in the country, this delightful cottage is situated in a haven of greenery and nestled in superb gardens where the cicadas sing.

Situated in the grounds of the owners own house, but apart from it, the cottage has its own separate entrance drive, is not overlooked and guests would be quite private. Ideally sleeping 4 guests with room for 2 further guests/children.

St Medard is a delightful hamlet where you will find a famous restaurant called Le Gindreau where one can eat on the terrace overlooking fantastic views – the food is exquisite, but expensive. A very perfect setting for that very special occasion.

The nearest village for general shopping is Catus which has a bustling, lively market every Tuesday and a large, pretty lake for boating and swimming. The medieval town of Cahors, situated on the river Lot, is only 15km away.

The owners are very happy to welcome you with a local aperitif and to tell you how to discover the beauties of the Lot valleys.
