Stylishly and tastefully furnished, superbly equipped, it is a perfect venue for that special occasion, anniversary, important birthday, family holiday or friends’ reunion. The beautiful gardens are filled with lavender, red and pink roses, and a fantastic display of wild flowers. Fruit trees abound and guests are invited to enjoy whatever fruit is in season. Sweet red cherries in the Spring, golden apricots in the summer, figs in the late summer and, of course, a speciality of the region, delicious walnuts in the Autumn, delightfully juicy when picked straight from the tree. This lovely villa is rural but not remote. A half hour stroll or 5 minute drive takes you to the closest village, Eymet, which is a medieval bastide town (planned) with a lively farmers market every Thursday (a tradition since 1270), and full of boulangeries, boutiques and many delightful restaurants, cafes and bistros. Twenty minutes by car takes you to the fairy tale castle of Monbazillac and another 10 minutes north to Bergerac, the capital of the Perigord Poupre, famous for its wonderful wine. The whole property (farmhouse and grange together) is available for rent on a weekly or fortnightly basis from 08 July-08 September. Outside: Facilities: Nearest towns: Eymet 1km - a delightful medieval village, a half hour stroll or a 5 minute drive Monbazillac 20km - a 20 minute drive to visit the fairy-tale castle, sample the Monbazillac wine, enjoy an excellent restaurant and spectacular scenery. Bergerac 27km - the capital of the Perigord Poupre, a wonderful town famous for its excellent wine, medieval town centre, twice weekly Farmer’s market and boat trips along the beautiful River Dordogne. Issigeac 21km - glorious medieval village with fabulous farmers market every Sunday morning. Miramont 11km Within an hour’s radius of Petit Rousset grand chateaux and simple wineries welcome you and offer you samples of their Bergerac wine (white and red wine) and Pecharment (red wine) plus beautifully preserved medieval hill towns like Beynac and Castelnaud with their fabulous chateaux, La Roque Gageac a tiny village built into the rock, Monpazier, a bastide town, Sarlat (the capital of Perigord Noir), and Caves with prehistoric paintings like Font de Gaume, Rouffignac and, of course, Lascaux11. Wild life and wild birds abound (bring your own binoculars) and just walking, cycling through the wonderful countryside or canoeing on the beautiful River Dordogne are experiences not to be missed. |
