This superb holiday villa with private swimming pool, originally dating back to the 12th century, has been tastefully and sympathetically restored by the owners. It is a most attractive house, beautifully furnished and well equipped. The rooms are long and spacious and, although only having 2 bedrooms on the second floor, the first floor has a comfortable sofa bed which can be screened off to provide extra sleeping accommodation. There is an excellent large kitchen and cave area, a wonderfully spacious lounge and wooden beams throughout.
Set in 7 hectares of meadow (approx. 18 acres), bordered by a stream and trees, the holiday villa is within walking distance of the River Dordogne and 5 minutes drive to canoe rental for exploring one of the most beautiful rivers in France. The whole area is full of amazing birds and wild-life, ideal for nature lovers and a photographer’s paradise. A superb situation, very secluded and quiet.
The charming medieval town of Martel, with its twice weekly traditional covered market, is close by, as are some of the best regional restaurants in the area.
Close by there is a steam locomotive (chemin de fer) that runs along the old railway line cut into the cliffs 80 metres above the Dordogne valley. It is a 13 km return journey between St Denis and Martel with beautiful panoramic views. A very popular attraction for both adults and children.

“A spectacular property with a large expanse of park land in front of it, beautiful old house which apparently dates from the 13th century, well modernised with all necessary equipment, in a beautiful part of France. Very helpful agent available to deal with the occasional minor niggle. Good pool. Would thoroughly recommend” William
“Had a lovely break, the house and location were stunning! So much so that if the owners ever consider selling I may be interested, it was just the break we needed.” Mr & Mrs Bradley

“La Veyrie was in a truly beautiful and tranquil location with a gorgeous spacious layout and tastefully renovated. We felt very blessed to stay there” A. Renwick
“We had a wonderful time. La Veyrie is truly a special place. We were also impressed by Martel, an unexpected gem of a town and had many a nice meal in the central square.” J. Johnson
“Property was delightful. I think bigger than we expected, and the grounds extensive. It was more rural that we thought, and really quiet, which was a plus for us. The tourist railway is not a problem, and from experience, can see the property from afar, but not intrusively, or for long. We are seriously thinking of booking again, as in many ways it was perfect. Also, the agents and caretaker are friendly and helpful. 10/10. “ Johnstone Family
“Yes had a fantastic holiday thanks and it was very hot, the guests we took loved the house, meadow, nature etc too.” J. Whetton (second visit)
“We have stayed at La Veyrie on many occasions. It’s a lovely French country house, tastefully furnished and well-equipped in beautiful surroundings. The house sits in its own substantial grounds: there’s always lots of wildlife to see so binoculars are a must. There’s a super private swimming pool, and a large barn with table tennis table, darts and boules. The River Dordogne is close by where you can enjoy canoeing, swimming and picnics. The nearby town of Martel is very picturesque with a twice-weekly market and an excellent choice of places to eat. There are lots of other stunning towns and villages and interesting places to visit within easy driving distance from the house. We would highly recommend a holiday at La Veyrie for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.” Tyler Family (fourth visit)
“Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la location, confortable, aménagée avec goût et idéalement située pour visiter la région.” Famille Emmenecker

We would like to return next summer”. Andy G
